Dum Maro Dum, another film from the director Rohan Sippy and Abhishek Bachchan combination after Kuch Naa Kaho and Bluffmaster. Rohan Sippy has stuck with Abhishek in all his films but music directors have always been changed. It was the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for Kuch Naa Kaho and Vishal Shekhar in Bluffmaster. This time he has gone for Pritam. The lyrics of the album has also been by the talented scriptwriter and lyricist Jaideep Sahni. I must say Jaideeps scripts like Khosla ka Ghosla, Chak De, Rocket Singh etc are better than his lyrics but definitely a talent which we will hear a lot of in future.
Coming back to the album, the album’s stand out track which will play in all the clubs is the new age rendition of ‘Dum Maro Dum’. The song has weird lyrics, is not hummable except the main line but will rock in any party. Anushka Manchanda is now becoming a veteran for such tracks. The next track is Te Amo featuring Sunidhi’s voice along with an unknoen singer Ash King. The song has a good feel and Sunidhi has sung well. Thus this track has Duet, Female, Reprise and Remix version. Its not that great either to have four versions available. Next track is ‘Jiyen Kyun’ with a nice new voice but again weird lyrics again. Simple and a soothing track but nothing mindblowing about it. Zubin Garg’s (Jaane kya Chahe mann from Pyar Ke Side Effects fame) beautiful voice returns with Jaana Hai but an average composition. Final track ‘Thayn Thayn’ is just for creating a buzzing with the so called self-proclaimed rapper Abhishek Bachchan.
This year with few films thus far, hence this would be the second best track after Tanu Weds Manu till now. Just enjoy the album for few weeks and then forget about it.
